Young Children and Media?

What does Braincandy think?
There are many ways in which watching TV affects your child. For years researchers have focused our attention on television’s negative influences of images children are exposed to on a daily basis -- such as violence, sex and drugs. As parents, we know inherently that these images negatively affect a young child’s developing point of view. In contrast, much of children’s television developed in the last ten years can have a very positive influence if the medium and the message are appropriate. So what does appropriate mean to us? It means that the content is specifically tailored to the age of your child, that the content is interactive and engaging, and that, as a parent, you take into account the amount of time your child sits in front of the TV.
